Up down stairs12/7/2023 ![]() ![]() Finally, I can't believe they are only going to give us 6 episodes for season #2 and not at least nine! Fortunately for those of us who LOVE the new series it has achieved great viewership rating and reviews so hopefully they will expand it in season three. This was 20 years before the new Upstairs/Downstairs and England after WWI mark the end of Edwardian English society and led to the changes seen in the new U/D series. They are BOTH great shows, but Downton Abbey takes place before WWI, like the original Upstairs /Downstairs series. I won't give away any spoilers, but for those who haven't seen the whole series you will need some Kleenex for a scene involving Sir Hallam in the third episode, which caught me completely off-guard! For those who say 'Downton Abbey' is a better show is missing the point. I have learned more on England's pre-WW2 history from show than I did from the World War series. I think the writers and producers were right to set the story in three settings (Upstairs, Downstairs, & the Events of the World both groups are effected by). The only reason I didn't give the new series a 10/10 was that Season 1 was only three episodes. They want the original show, but that shows style was stuck in the TV world of 1974 and would not work today in 2010. I am obviously a bit biased, but I absolutely love Vivian Lou weight-shifting insoles. Those that find fault in this program are either being too critical or stuck in the past. ![]() Nor did my feet ache at night or the next morning. Don't get me wrong.I still kick my shoes off as soon as I walk in the door, but not one day this week did I want to cry in pain after walking or standing for most of the day. And all I can say is THANK GOODNESS for Vivian Lou weight-shifting insoles. I spent more time in heels this past week than I have in a while. Here's to being safe and sturdy on stairs! Better to be safe than sorry!Īs with most other difficult tasks, the more you walk up and down stairs in heels, the easier it becomes. Take your time heading down stairs in heels. Place one foot in front of the other on the next step down. * If the stairs are narrow, you may try tilting your body at a 45 degree angle feet and stepping down on an angle. Depending on the depth of the step, you may want to push your shoe back until it touches the back of the step to make sure as much shoe as possible is making contact. * Place as much of the shoe (heel and front of the shoe) on the step as possible. ![]() After a few steps (if possible), visualize a straight line going toward your end point, rather than looking down at your heels. * At first, you may need to look down at the stairs to determine depth and steepness. Gently glide your hand down the railing as you descend. Keep your grip strong, but relax the rest of your arm and shoulder. Then hold onto the mobility aid and give your dog. If your dog still struggles to get up the stairs without help, buy a mobility sling, lifting aid harness, or walking harness with a handle. Use a mobility aid to guide your dog up the stairs. * While ascending, place one foot right in front of the other on the next step. Consider laying down carpeted runners over slick surfaces throughout the rest of your house too. This means that the back of the heel will most likely hang off the step. * As you walk up the step, place your body weight on the ball of the foot. * Visualize a straight line going up toward your end point, rather than looking down at your feet as you climb. Let's quickly review the 'how to' of stairs in heels. ![]() While it's quite empowering to dress up and get out and about, I've been reminded (on more than one occasion) to be careful on the stairs! This past week, I spent quite a bit of time walking in my heels. ![]()
